Alnwick Garden Reviews

We went to Alnwick Garden on a Saturday, it was a bit of a nightmare with how busy it was. I expected it to be popular, sure, but not to the point where you’re shuffling along paths instead of actually enjoying the place.
There were queues for everything, food, toilets, even just getting through certain areas felt like a slow-moving crowd exercise. Some parts of the garden did look really lovely, to be fair, and I can imagine it being gorgeous on a calmer day, but at the time I was mostly just irritated and trying not to bump into people.
For the price, I left feeling disappointed. Maybe we just picked the worst day possible, or maybe they need to manage visitor numbers better, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back unless I knew it was going to be much quieter.

I booked our tickets on alnwickgarden. It was straightforward. The prices are not the cheapest, especially for a family. But there was plenty to see, so it felt worth it overall. I just wish the booking fees and extras were a bit clearer upfront. We still had a really good day out. I’d give it 4 stars

I booked through Alnwick Garden it was more of a pain than I expected haha.

The pages were loading really slowly, the checkout felt a bit confusing, and for a while I wasn’t even sure if my payment had actually gone through. I also didn’t get a clear email straight away, which made me more unsure.

For something that should’ve been quick and simple, it ended up feeling a bit stressful. I kind of wish I’d just called them instead, to be honest. Not the best first impression.

Stopped in hoping for a quick coffee and something sweet. Big mistake. The coffee was cold. Not lukewarm, cold. And the cake tasted like it had been sitting out way too long. Dry, stale, just... not good. Disappointing.

The visit was fine up until I needed to use the toilets, and then it just kind of put me off everything. They weren’t clean, there wasn’t much stocked properly, and they just weren’t nice to use at all. It’s one of those things you don’t really think about until it’s bad, and then it sticks in your mind for the rest of the visit. Definitely something that needs sorting.

The gardens were nice and the fountains were definitely worth a look, but i’m not sure it was worth the ticket price. If you’re going as a family, it adds up quickly. Food and drinks inside were on the expensive side too, so the whole day ended up costing more than we expected. It’s not a bad place or anything, I just thought there’d be a bit more to do for the money.

We’ve always liked coming here and I’ve usually been happy to recommend it, so I was a bit disappointed this time. The garden itself was fine and the kids still enjoyed parts of it, but the parking really let the day down for us. It wasn’t as close as I expected, and at first it wasn’t very clear where we were supposed to go. We ended up walking more than planned with kids and bags, which made everything feel more stressful than it needed to be. For the price of a family day out, I just expected the whole experience to be smoother. I still have a soft spot for the place, but I probably wouldn’t rush back unless the parking situation improves...

I guess it’s nice that they tried to make the place seem interesting, but it just wasn’t worth visiting. There wasn’t much to see or do, and I left feeling like I could’ve spent my time better somewhere else.

I checked the opening times online before heading over, but when I got there it was closed. Maybe I just caught them at a bad time, but it was really frustrating since I’d planned my whole day around it

The water features and fountains were really nice to walk around and see, especially the big one. That said, a few spots were crowded, so it didn’t feel as relaxing as I was hoping. I also felt like some of the signs could’ve been clearer. I’d mentioned that in a message beforehand, but it felt like nobody read it. Still worth visiting, but for the price, I expected a little more.

Some parts of the garden are really pretty, like you’ll turn a corner and think, oh that’s nice, but then the overall layout felt a bit all over the place to me. I was kind of expecting more colour and a better sense of flow, maybe something a bit more put together. It’s fine for a short walk and there are definitely a few lovely spots, but I don’t know, I just thought it would feel more beautiful overall.

well... I visited last week and was a bit disappointed with the gardens. There were weeds all over, the paths looked messy, and the whole place just felt like it hadn’t been looked after in a while.

I tried to book tickets online, but the site was really difficult to use with my screen reader. The buttons weren’t clearly labeled, and the menus kept jumping around, so I couldn’t tell what I was selecting. After about 15 minutes, I just gave up. What made it even more annoying was that there didn’t seem to be any way to talk to an actual person for help, just more automated pages and prompts.

We went with the kids and, to be honest, I don’t think it was as family-friendly as it probably should’ve been. Maybe others had a better experience, but for us there just wasn’t enough clear information, and getting around felt more stressful than it needed to be. The kids lost interest quickly, which made it even harder. I’m not trying to be overly negative, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back.

We got the annual pass this year, it’s been a good move for us. We’ve already gone back a few times, and it’s nice not having to think about paying for entry every single visit, especially when you’re bringing kids along.

The perks are decent too, though I do wish the info about what’s included was a bit easier to find online. I ended up asking at the desk, and the staff were really helpful. I’d still recommend it if you plan on visiting more than once or twice

The place itself looked lovely, but the activity felt really rushed and there wasn’t much explanation, so the kids lost interest quickly. The staff were polite, but everything felt a bit unorganised, especially considering what we paid. I’d hope the organisers would acknowledge this somehow, because it didn’t feel like good value for money.

I was really looking forward to the poison garden because it sounded so interesting, so interesting, but the visit felt a bit rushed. We didn’t really get enough time to wander or properly take things in. The guide was fine, just fine, but for the price I expected a bit more. Left feeling a little underwhelmed.

I did find some good stuff on the site, especially the educational info about the garden and different plants. That was actually helpful while planning something with the kids. But yeah, some of the pages felt a little busy, and I kept having to click around longer than I thought I would to find what I needed. So... not a bad site overall, just could be a bit clearer and easier to move through.

expected more from the treehouse. It was packed, loud, and felt more like a busy cafe than anything special. Staff seemed rushed, and the whole place felt a bit worn out. For the price, the vibe just wasn’t there. Left disappointed and wouldn’t rush back...

I ended up waiting for ages and just left in the end... really frustrating :/
